Catwalk for a good cause

This week I was honored to walk the runway wearing red, along with celebrities like Kelly Ripa, Kim Cattrall, Katherine McPhee, and Paula Zahn, to name just a few. The cause: New York's Fashion Week's Red Dress Collection to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease. Now I already knew heart disease was the number one killer of women... But I didn't know it claims more lives each year than cancer, chronic lower respiratory diseases, accidents and diabetes combined.

The statistics are grim, but as First Lady Laura Bush told us prior to the show, since the Red Dress fashion show began 4 years ago there has been a measurable decrease in the mortality rate of women from heart attacks or strokes because of an increased awareness. Too often we women tend to worry and pay attention to everyone else, but unless we're crawling in pain, we don't take the time to take care of ourselves, and can ignore important signs or symptoms that may indicate a problem. We owe it to ourselves and to our families to take the best possible care of ourselves.

So how did I do, you may be asking, as I was making my runway debut? With Ms. Universe in front of me and professional supermodel Helena Christiansen behind, I have to admit it was pretty nervewracking. As my music came on and I heard my name, I was surprised to feel a sudden burst of confidence. Out I went, strutting my stuff -- and boy was it fun to be a glamor girl for the day. It was all a blur though as I came to the end of the runway, did a twirl in my sweet Tracy Reese dress, then sashayed back. The applause was thunderous for all the models, and we were all grinning from ear to ear when it was done. Talking to some of the other women, it didn't matter that most of us had never walked a runway before, we had the time of our lives. Wearing red never looked or felt so good.

This story made me remember that Sex and the City where Carrie fell on the runway during a charity fashion show. I read your blog with one eye closed for fear you were going to share that you'd done something embarrassing! Of course, I'm glad you didn't and congratulations on getting to live out a day as a glamour girl!

You were so beautiful on the runway! Also, it was so cute how you twirled and did a little flash. ;) I laughed and laughed at how they kept showing that moment over and over again the next morning on the Today show. It was too funny, but I felt your pain. :)

Hello Natalie, Glad to see you have your own blog site finally.
I Loved the way you walked the catwalk, exuberantly amazingly sexy by what little I seen of it on the Today Show. I love it, even on days when you dress down a bit, you still outshine the rest of the Today Show cast. Your always so smooth and in the groove. I wish you would have and still will get the Main-hosting job for Today Show. You’re the only reason I watch any of Today Show, Also I hear your on MSNBC a little lately I wish they would let you mention this on Today Show or NBC would promote you so I can catch you when your on any NBC networks/MSNBC.

Price of Admission

When your limo gets to Heaven
Will a bouncer guard the gate
Will he analyze your clothing
As if that's what makes you great?

Will he shake his head and say no
If your shoes aren't Jimmy Choos
Will you fail the test to get in
If Armani's not on you?

If you hock your family values
To buy the hottest stuff
Will you earn a place in Heaven
Will you have bought enough?

Will the diamonds on your fingers
On your arm and on your shoes
Impress the folks in Heaven
Do those diamonds pay your dues?

Do the stars in the Enquirer
Mean more than those up in the sky
Both of those can lead you
But to different kinds of high

Think of your destination
How your time and money's spent
Are your gifts and talents being
Used for what is meant?

You are beautiful! You looked like you were having fun on the catwalk and that's what's important. I watch the Today show each and every morning. You all seem like one big family. I would love to have a job like that!

Yes Nat, you are beautiful. My husband's favorite on the show. "she runs marathons, she does this blah, blah, blah. " This morning I discovered you are also bi-lingual, or faked your Spanglish very well. I am not jealous though. You looked great in that red dress. The very best part, pixeled out much to my husband's dismay" was your definate "FLASH" of the first lady. Hey, it happens to the best of us! Let us assume you were not wearing your "Britney's below"!!! I believe you will not live that one down for a very long time. Love you Natalie. Truth be known, you are my favorite female on the show too. I see "ANCHOR" in your future! Defifinatly not a FLASH in the pan!

All kidding aside Natalie, keep up the good work...you are a pro and a joy to watch.

thanks

Natalie, Maria Menounos looks average next to you. Not only are you easily the most beautiful woman on TV, you're an outstanding reporter as well.
All the best.
